Te Atatū Toasted Gluten Free Blend is a handmade gluten free muesli, made in its own separate room that’s kept free of gluten, nuts and sesame. It has no cornflakes, no rice bubbles and nothing you can’t read on the label. If you’ve just bought your first bag, welcome. Here’s how to get the most out of it.
I started making muesli because most supermarket cereals are closer to dessert than breakfast. They’re ultra-processed and heavy on sugar and salt, and often with unnecessary additives, colours and flavours. The Gluten Free Blend is what I’d want on my own table if gluten was off the menu.
Most muesli isn’t. It’s often contains oats or wheat or is cross contaminated somewhere during the process. The Gluten Free Blend is made without oats or wheat, using wholegrains you can actually see, plus seeds and chickpeas.
Not from my kitchen. The Gluten Free Blend is made in a separate room with its own equipment, so it never shares machinery with my other blends. Nothing containing gluten, nuts or sesame goes into that room. If you’re coeliac or managing a nut allergy, that’s the part I know matters most.
Grains, buckwheat and quinoa, channa daria (chickpeas), sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, you can find a full list of the ingredients here. There are no nuts, no sesame and no refined sugar. The seeds and chickpeas bring the protein, and the wholegrains bring the fibre. That’s what keeps you full until lunchtime rather than reaching for a sugary biscuit at 10am.
One-third of a cup. That’s smaller than most people expect, and it’s enough. Because it’s real food rather than ultra processed fillers, a little goes a long way. Add a free blue scoop with your order and you’ll never have to guess and you will get 30 servings (a month) out of one bag.
My favourite way is a scoop of muesli with a dash of milk and a third of a cup of plain yoghurt. Then I add fruit. Berries and kiwifruit are good choices because they’re lower in sugar. Skip fruit yoghurts, which usually have sugar and additives added.
It’s also good sprinkled over a salad for crunch, and it works well in baking. You’ll find gluten free recipes using the blend here.
Online, delivered anywhere in New Zealand, or from me at the markets. I sell direct in big bags because it keeps the price fair without cutting corners on ingredients. It also means I get to know everyone in the Te Atatū Toasted whānau.
You can order whenever you need it or set up a subscriptionso it just arrives. A subscription is the best value, and you can skip a month or cancel any time.
You can also add a portion scoop to your next order here
I hope you enjoy it. Do let me know what you think.
