I'm up before the birds this morning and I already know it is going to be a good day because I have one of these gorgeous jars full of goodness waiting for me in the fridge.
I love layering my bircher breakfasts because it makes every spoonfull just a little bit (or a lot) different. There is no real skill to it but I thought I would share with you my way and it might help you make yours just a bit more magical.
Method:
In the bottom of the jar is a heaped spoon of the Healthy Blend muesli and then about 1/2 that of the Paleo one and a tsp of basil seeds - I roughly mix all that and then add milk (or water) mix then I add a layer of yoghurt, topped with frozen raspberries and blueberries and then do the whole thing again. Because I use very low sugar mueslis, unsweetened yoghurt and berries it would be all up less than 4% sugar (including lactose).
Also I use basil seed as preference to chia seeds as they are nutritionally superior esp much higher in iron so that is good for women. That's a clump of basil seeds just below the blueberries - so they look similar to chia seeds when soaked. The ones I use are Aotearoad.
Gluten Free Option: Swap the Healthy Blend muesli for the Gluten Free Blend, it works just as well in this bircher.
The hardest part of this is making it the night before!! But I made it during the ads while watching the Nigel Latta series .........it's good isn't it!
Also I eat it with a parfait spoon because it can reach the bottom of the jar and it feels fancy!!
